Ok and here’s another one for the book!
Ola Lavanderia Cafe is located alongside the Jonker Street. It takes a bit of a walking and head-tilting to look for this hidden gem. I was brought here after reading some good words about the coffee and croissant.
This industrial-concept cafe is quite small yet cozy. Truly aesthetic! The ambience itself is welcoming but we also love the affable owner, Sam.
Little did we know, they also provide a dormitory behind the cafe and I heard it is quite cheap, too.
Back to the main reason why I was here. They only have a few selection from the menu but it is sufficient for patrons to stop by for a quick recharge. I ordered the Croissant with Butter and Jam and Iced Coffee while Azim went for the Croissant with Scrambled Egg and Iced Chocolate.
The coffee was good; price and taste wise. Nothing to complain about the Iced Chocolate, too.
My favorite part would be the croissant.
Hands down, the best croissant I have ever had!
It even topped the ones I had at Marriot and Hatten Hotel.
The croissant was buttery, flaky and hold that deep golden brown color. It was soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, just like how it should be. The sweetness and buttery flavor was what won me over.
Another one of their signature is White Gula Melaka Cheesecake. It took me a while to process what was happening in my mouth but as I tried figuring it out, little did I know, I finished the entire thing. And, I rarely finish a cake. It was sweet, tangy and every bite asked for another.
